Are You Wearing The Wrong Size Sports Bra?
BodyFit Physical Therapy; 45 East Main St Avon CT, March 23rd, 2019 at 10:00

If one of your goals for 2019 is to live a more active and fit lifestyle, don't forget the importance of a high quality, good fitting sports bra!

Whether you are a walker or a runner, attend yoga classes or aerobics classes, are young or old, a veteran exerciser or a newbie, we ALL need a good sports bra.

An ill-fitting sports bra can hinder performance and turn your workout into a miserable experience. If the sports bra is too tight, it can result in chafing and prevent proper breathing. A sports bra that is too loose won't provide the right amount of support to reduce breast  movement. There are many choices out there, and if you are unsure where to start, let us help!

Find out what size sports bra you actually wear by going through a professional fitting. The reality is that 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. Women who don't get fitted typically buy a bra with a band that is too big and cups that are too small. This will leave you feeling unsupported and uncomfortable!

A few sports bra facts worth knowing:

  • Get Measured - A good fit will help ensure proper support. A woman's size can change quickly due to weight loss, weight gain, pregnancy, etc., so get measured after any such change.
  • Don't Double Up - You do not need to wear two sports bras to achieve support! We have a variety of high-impact bras that are designed to support and protect the full-cup woman.
  • Don't Get Too Attached - A sports bra should never celebrate a birthday, and should be replaced every 6-12 months. Fabric and elastics break down over time, and your sports bra will stop working effectively.
  • Make it Three - Consider having three good sports bras in your wardrobe: one you are wearing, one in the wash, and one ready to go. Not every workout is the same, so you may also consider different styles for different activities.
